Picture The Rest Of Our Lives Together: A Surprise Proposal At Sloan’s Lake

Ogonna (she/her) was visiting Denver soon and had the brilliant idea to (double) propose to her fiancée, Jaehla (she/her). There was a special spot in Sloan's Lake where the two had envisioned their future lives together on a previous trip out. Sitting on that park bench, the couple fantasized about building a life together, hopefully soon in Colorado. That’s where we come in!

Naturally, the plan was to surprise Jaehla by proposing in this sentimental location. With the help of their realtor, we arranged a meeting, disguised as house tour, so that Ogonna could get on one knee and pop the important question.

On the day of the proposal, we pretended to be conducting a photo + video shoot of each other. Among the people enjoying the park, there was no suspicion at this super casual activity. But when we saw O + J approach, we slyly pivoted the camera to capture the entire moment. With Jaehla completely surprised, she said yes!! A successful double proposal! (J had proposed a few months back in Greece!)

After the big reveal, we took these two lovebirds on a quick walk around the lake to revel in all the joy, documenting along the way. The smiles couldn’t control themselves! We’ve always thought capturing engagement photos fresh off the proposal makes for the most authentic candid photos.

After a little while, we headed to the nearby Edgewater Marketplace— a popular spot in Denver to enjoy local eats, browse books, and peruse some plants or art. Ogonna had let us know beforehand that she and Jaehla loved these activities whenever they traveled, so we were elated to take them to see another local gem, while taking some unique engagement photos. They even got to enjoy some ice cream! The whole shoot felt like hanging out with our new best friends. Celebrating genuine, queer love is the honor of a lifetime for us.
